British National Found Dead in Toilet at Depok Immigration Office

Depok, KORANTRANSAKSI.com – A British national identified by the initials DJR (54) was found dead, hanging from the iron bars of a toilet at the Depok Immigration Office on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The Head of Public Relations for Depok Metro Police, Adjunct Police Commissioner Made Budi, confirmed the incident.

“The incident did occur. However, we will provide the full chronology after the handling process is complete,” he said.

The victim was recorded as a teacher who had been detained in the temporary holding facility at Depok Immigration Office since Monday, April 20, 2026. Based on CCTV footage, the victim entered the toilet at approximately 3:20 PM local time.

A witness later noticed that the detention room was empty and found the toilet door closed. The witness called out to the victim but received no response. The immigration officer then attempted to check on the victim through the toilet ventilation opening but was unsuccessful.

The officer then forced the door open and discovered the man, who was from Brighton, hanging from the iron bars of the bathroom ventilation. The Inafis (forensic identification) team from Depok Metro Police is still processing the crime scene.
