Badung, KORANTRANSAKSI.com – The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office has detained a 45-year-old British national identified as SL at the Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. He was apprehended during the immigration inspection process upon arrival in Bali on a Singapore–Denpasar flight route, after the system flagged him as an Interpol Red Notice subject.

Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, stated, “Based on intelligence data and coordination, SL is suspected to be the leader of an international criminal organization. He is believed to be the mastermind controlling members of his network in operating fictitious companies and engaging in money laundering activities.”

After being secured in the international arrivals area, Ngurah Rai Immigration authorities immediately handed SL over to the Airport Police (Polres) of I Gusti Ngurah Rai for further legal processing, in accordance with procedures for handling international fugitives.

“We firmly emphasize that Bali will never become a safe haven for international fugitives. Our system is well integrated, and our officers are highly experienced in detecting and apprehending individuals listed on Interpol’s wanted list,” Bugie stressed.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, expressed her appreciation for the successful apprehension. “We highly appreciate the performance of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in securing this international fugitive. This success demonstrates that immigration supervision in Bali is effective, integrated, and responsive to transnational threats,” she said.

She added that all units under the Bali Immigration Regional Office will continue to strengthen coordination, enhance vigilance, and optimize the use of technology and international cooperation.

“Bali must remain a safe and orderly region that does not provide space for law violators, including international fugitives,” she concluded. (TA/TIM)
