Forging Passports, Pakistani National Arrested by Central Jakarta Immigration Office
Jakarta, KORANTRANSAKSI.com – The Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office of Central Jakarta successfully arrested a Pakistani foreign national, identified as NUD (28), who violated his residence permit and was involved in a passport forgery syndicate.
The Head of the Central Jakarta Immigration Office, Muhammad Iqbal, explained that the case was uncovered following a suspicion raised by the Customs officers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. A package containing three passports, two from Ukraine and one from Pakistan, was intercepted.
"Through coordination, it was discovered that the recipient's address for the fake passports was located in an apartment in Central Jakarta, so we conducted an operation," said Iqbal.
Iqbal further added that during the search of the apartment, NUD was arrested, and it was found that he had violated his residence permit. NUD entered Indonesia with a limited stay permit as an investor, but in reality, he was involved in fraud. During the arrest, the authorities also seized four mobile phones, one laptop, ten foreign country stamps, a cardboard box, and a shipping package.
Iqbal revealed that initially, NUD attempted to deceive the officers, but due to the officers' persistence, the suspect was ultimately detained. "When the suspect was apprehended, several pieces of evidence were found," Iqbal stated.
Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Pamuji Raharja, stated that the case was a result of collaboration between the Customs at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and the Directorate General of Immigration, executed by the Central Jakarta Immigration Office.
Pamuji praised the Central Jakarta Immigration Office for its swift action in uncovering the case found at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
"The success of uncovering this case is a result of good cross-sector collaboration, and this must be maintained," he said.
The Head of the Immigration Supervision and Enforcement Section (Wasdakim) of Central Jakarta, Yudhistira, explained that, according to the suspect's confession, the three fake passports had been sent from Greece. Additionally, NUD had been creating stamps from various countries to make the three fake passports appear legitimate. "Indeed, a passport with numerous stamps appears stronger, as if the holder has traveled to various countries," he said. (ZIK/TIM)
