Bekasi, KORANTRANSAKSI.com – The National Corruption Watch (NCW) DPD Bekasi Raya has announced that it has received an official response from the Class I Special Immigration Office Non-TPI Tangerang regarding a request for clarification concerning the handling of 10 foreign nationals (WNA) who were previously detained in connection with an alleged abuse of investor visa permits.

Earlier, NCW sent an official clarification letter on March 5, 2026, as part of public participation in overseeing public services and law enforcement in the immigration sector. The letter requested an explanation regarding the legal status of the foreign nationals, the basis for the administrative actions taken, and the progress of the ongoing investigation.

Official Clarification from Immigration

In a response letter dated March 10, 2026, the immigration authorities explained that the handling of the case involving the 10 foreign nationals is still at the investigation or pre-investigation stage of immigration crimes, as stipulated in Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration.

Immigration also stated that the circulating information about the alleged release of the foreign nationals is not true. The 10 foreign nationals are currently being held in the Jakarta Immigration Detention House while awaiting further examination by the relevant authorities.

Additionally, immigration authorities stated that the handling of the case is being coordinated with several institutions, including the Civil Servant Investigator Supervisory Apparatus (PPNS), the police, and the prosecutor's office, to ensure the legal process follows the provisions of applicable laws and regulations.

NCW's Response

In response to the letter, NCW Bekasi Raya Chairman Herman Parulian Simaremare, S.Pd, expressed appreciation for the clarification provided by the immigration authorities. According to Herman, transparency from government institutions is crucial to maintain public trust in the law enforcement process.

“We appreciate the official clarification provided by the immigration authorities. For us, transparency is key to ensuring that every law enforcement process is carried out professionally, accountably, and in accordance with the applicable rules,” said Herman.

However, Herman emphasized that the process should continue to be monitored to ensure it remains objective and does not lead to public speculation. “This case is also a moment to strengthen the monitoring system of investor visa permits. The government certainly wants to attract investment, but at the same time, verification and monitoring mechanisms must remain strict to avoid potential abuse,” he added.

Call for Transparency

NCW stated that it will continue to monitor the progress of the case and hopes that each stage will be communicated transparently to the public. In addition, the organization believes that every case related to the alleged abuse of investor visa facilities should serve as an evaluation to strengthen national immigration oversight.

As part of its public responsibility, NCW also stated that it has supporting data and information ready to be submitted to the relevant authorities through official channels if needed in further investigations. (TIM)
